..this might be the last of the MoMA series, most of the images i have are just some random snaps just worth a flickr photodump perhaps.. as elaine mentioned, i don’t want to post a picture of a picture, that’s kinda boring IMO.. and some of you were wondering how i was able to get snaps of these works of art, well, i guess if you don’t use your flash then all’s good.. now, on to the image.. that’s van gogh’s starry night..
The Starry Night is a painting by Dutch post-impressionist artist Vincent van Gogh. The painting depicts the view outside his sanitarium room window at night, although it was painted from memory during the day. Since 1941 it has been in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. Reproduced often, the painting is widely hailed as his magnum opus. (more)

hey now, no quoting me on a bitchy comment lolol feel free to take a picture of a picture, esp this one, it’s one of my faves 🙂
You seem to be not the only one aiming for some snapshots here 😉 You are right: This is much more interesting than shooting the actual picture alone…
Thats cool that you get to take images there, I would think that usually u cant take photos.
It’s a lovely take on a famous work of art, Rian. My 9-year-old g’son is with me right now and he just looked at this and knew what it was. He said it was one of the first things they learned in 4th grade this year. It amazed me!
well, I like this shot, but hate that painting , whoever painted this :)) Am I funny ?
A fine shot of people taking pictures of this famous painting. A nice way to avoid just taking a picture of a picture. Well done.
One of my favs! Love the way you’ve captured the folks with their cameras!
Another nice one. I would personally rather silhouettes here and I’ll tell you why… when I first saw this, it reminded me of Mystery Science Theater 3000! I loved that show.
I’m always surprised they have pictures like this one at arms length.
thanks.. 🙂 i’m not familiar with MST3K but saw a short clip of it just now and i see what you mean.. ;D and yep, these works of art are awesome.. i never thought i’d see a famous work of art face to face, and it does feel different as compared to looking at it from the pages of a book or the tv…
I hope you took some time to just enjoy this work of art. Very few pieces of art moved me the way this one did. It is magical and other-worldly. Of course, I like your pic too!
This is a really cool shot! I love the perspective!
love that composition. i didn’t expect to see that painting when i went to that museum. need to learn to do research before hand.
Good you were allowed to take pictures… obviously you were not the only one to do so.
Mr Van Rian! Nice behind the scenes sort of shot!
This is where everyone says Oooo… and Ahhhh…. over the painting:-) Neat capture with the people taking shots. I’m surprised they let cameras in there. BTW, I do like the painting.
Cool candid shot. dig it.
this is a funny image. makes it feel like a lot of people photograph this painting – which is a little bit crazy – reproductions of it are everywhere – when you see the real thing why not just enjoy it. so your image feels like a bit of social commentary. certainly more than just a picture of picture.
Excellent pov, I love this image, a bit cynic…
I know that painting very well, a master for a photographer, too!
[…] one of the most recognizable works of art by Van Gogh.. well, maybe because i already saw the original at NYC’s MoMA.. anyways, i got this while walking around at Venice Beach.. a homage to The […]
