..my friends & i jumped the border and went on a road trip to florida to get some lottery tickets.. but we first made a beeline to pensacola beach and walked around a bit.. this here’s the ‘longest & friendliest pier in the gulf of mexico’ as taken from this website.. the beach was great buuut if it has sharks..
Stretching out across the emerald green waters beyond 2 sand bars the Pensacola Beach Fishing Pier has some of the most exciting fishing and sights any pier Florida has to offer. And did we forget to say, “the most friendly pier around!” The Pensacola Beach Gulf Pier is here for everyone to enjoy. Whether you are a seasoned fisherman or a beginner you will be right at home on our pier. We also have everything you need to fish, bait, tackle, rental rods, coolers and carts as well as food and drinks in our new restaurant.
From our pier we see many kinds of marine life from dolphins, manatees, brown and cow rays, different types of sharks, crabs. In addition, there are many types of fish swimming around the pier as well as marine birds. Watching the activities of these species around the pier has become a favorite for some of our local schools which we host here at the pier.
*oh, and yesterday’s snow/sandman was just a discovery.. some kids probably made it.. 🙂

I like how this shot goes from the bottom of the pier and gives it an angle to a nice vanishing point. Very nicely taken!
When your site opened my first reaction was that it was railroad tracks. As much as I love them, this is better:-) Exceptional composition and I need to go to the beach:-)
yur b&w work is always superb. which method you use to convert to b&w?
I love lines and this one is an eyeful.
Great lines and textures.
A beautiful black and white indeed. The diagonl lines made by the nails are stunning. What are they made for? Is it for esthetics purpose only?
I can only echoe the sentiments of the previous comments, this is wonderful
Love the framing, superb shot!
Wow…great pattern made from the bolts — adds a nice emphasis to the long perspective. I like the grayscale processing.
great focal point, my eyes go straight out to the end.
I like the strong converging lines. Fine black and white work too. Nicely done.
Original point of view! I like the level water line with support wood beams.
great shot Rian!!! love the distance perspective! and it looks great in black and white 🙂
that is a long pier 🙂 wow. nice repeating composition. like the low angle too!
Excellent shot with the low perspective. It seems to go on forever!
😛 Great music with the link, I almost feel in the warm country…
Great picture again, love the B&W tones, the perspective is wonderfful.
I guess you had a great time.
Great symetrical composition, congratulations!
I like the horizon touching the end of the pier 🙂
It’s the path to heavens…

Really nice perspective on this shot Rian! It seems to stretch on forever!!
A pier all the way to the horizon! Great!
This great photo. “Roads are not culminate, as this life.” Regards from Yogyakarta City, Indonesia.
What is is about the vanishing point???!
Great perspective and depth feel in this, the lines lead into the horizon. Works great in B&W, nice capture.
and here i thought you’d made us a snow/sand man. todays shot is interesting. it’s mostly pier and yet the sense of the sea is very strong.
Great lines and textures in b/w, Rian!
This reminds me of the time I spend in Melbourne. I enjoyed visiting the St. Kilda pier, very much like this but much smaller. Actualy that had a railing only on one side.
Great shot! I’ve done some fishing on that pier and they did catch a hammerhead shark while I was there.
Wow…it seems to go on forever…excellent pov and I really like the monochrome process. Great lines as well! Nice work!
Nice work composing this image. Great lines, perspective and light throughout.
What a feel of infinity
