..it seems i’ve been bitten by the tweakies again.. the sun on the light post was just too good to pass up so i tweaked away (or at least attempted to.. 😀 )
..this here’s the arlington street church..
Arlington Street Church is a Unitarian Universalist church located in Boston, Massachusetts. Founded in 1729 as the “Church of the Presbyterian Strangers”, it became independent in 1787, taking on a Congregational model. In 1803, it called William Ellery Channing as its minister who defined “Unitarian Christianity” and launched the Unitarian movement, making the Arlington Street Church one of the first to define itself as Unitarian. On May 17, 2004, the church was the site of the first state-sanctioned same-sex marriage in the United States. (more)
..and, if you were wondering about that blue cast.. yeah.. it’s deliberate..

Great perspective. Nicely framed. I like how this church appears embraced by the buildings around it and the contrast between all of the buildings with that one modern structure. And the light…both the “blue cast” and lamp and sun, make this really interesting.
That’s quite a history. I always find it unsettling when cities build modern structures near old ones like this.
Excellent perspective! Loved the composition and colors! Vignette has added a charm to it.
Excellent capture of this old Boston Landmark. 🙂
Can’t imagine where you’re standing to get this perspective and point-of-view. Love the almost grunge-feel to the processing.
The electrical light in front of the spiritual Light 🙂
I like the light-obscured sun and the way you’ve opened the shadows up and made them nicely visible. It’s an elegant, old church with a marvelous steeple. I like your manipulations!
Excellent perspective:I was there and have visited the church in 2006!
Such a beautiful church.
Nice blues. I like the way you hid the sun.
original framing, good!
Excellent capture, rian ! I love the light of the streetlamp and the moviment of down !
I always love these old buildings in between the modern buildings. And that light is indeed a cool touch! 🙂
The blue cast is *very good*. I love the way buildings like this can sit in American cities with so much space around them and be so proud on the landscape… The car going past the pedestrians gives a nice touch of motion blur as well. Good stuff, Rian 🙂
Great blue cast and the light and the sun works nice too… great processing.
you often find an original way to present buildings – like here the lamp is an interesting addition and could be seen as a comment on the church and it’s connection to light.
is good. is good. i’ve gone from photoshop noob who just wanted to try all the filters at once and thought the result was sheer genius to film mathematician who believed that if you couldn’t do it with chemicals and a perfectly timed exposure it wasn’t worth doing. i think this is awesome. i like the effect, the drama, the particular composition with the light in the scene. its brilliant. very nice.
the sun on the lightpost is super cool!!! you are lucky there is a church in the way too 🙂 great shot!!
Love the blue cast, beautiful shot.
Wow very cool angle Rian! That light post adds something to this photo. I dont think it would be as good with out it.
Fantastic shot…love the perspective and the processing!
I like this blue haze, that ties together the different parts of this composition, which have not really any common point except the lighting. Fine one
