turquoise?

..i’m here in bermuda up until saturday and the weather isn’t cooperating.. aaargh.. the scenes and vistas that have tremendous potential turn out flat and boring, a series of bermuda images in mono aren’t what i was looking forward to but it seems that’s what i have to do to remedy the booring sky.. or maybe composites.. oh well, work with what you have..

..okay, impressions? hmm.. lemme see, well, the thing that really impressed me the most is the water’s clarity and color.. i mean, it’s really friggin’ clear!! ..and blue..

Why is the sea turquoise?

The sea around bermuda is very blue in comparison to many other places because phytoplankton levels are low. Phytoplanktons are microscopic plants which are found in the water. In abundance, phytoplankton can turn the sea colour green, brown or even red. The water around Bermuda is low in nutrients and therefore there is not a lot of phytoplankton.

thanks! 🙂 ..and thanks for the suggestion, i mostly had 3 bracketed shots and from what i pixel peeped, there weren’t any much detail in the sky, just a flat, off white smudge.. i guess adding some composite clouds i have at home would do the trick, but that’s too much trouble.. let’s see what happens.. 😀

The clarity of the water is just awesome, like the composition too. A bit flat in the sky as you said, but the picture is great nonetheless. Great. 🙂

The water is so clear there Rian. I like how you composed it, and no matter what the weather maybe like there right now, it beats the -7° I’m at here right now in Massachusetts. Looks and sounds like Bermuda is where I wanna be right now. Hope to see some more shots of your trip. Enjoy! 🙂

That’s where my wife and I honeymooned…it’s a paradise! Even considering the weather, your worst day in Bermuda is more than likely better than one of your better days here. Now get out there and get to rockin’ in your Bermuda shorts and black socks!

That’s a beautiful color indeed. Nice photo. I have to say how sorry I am that the Bermuda weather isn’t working for you. Me being here in NY where it’s 15 degrees and raining airplanes. Talk about not cooperating. Nice image that brings a breath of warmth and color.

i’m in the minority here but i love a flat or washed out sky. don’t want to get all Zen on you but … maybe if you … you know just relax into it a bit it won’t seem so bad. or you could have more of those tropical drinks Terry mentioned.

Stunning capture Rian the place looks gorgeous. Love the clear water. Look at the bright side, right now it’s -8 degrees F here in PA. I would trade places in a heart beat. Hope you have a safe flight back, I’m sure you heard about the flight in NY.

Although you say the weather is not great I can guarantee I’d rather be there than sitting here in the arctic blast which has taken over the country…Brrrrr.

The first thing I noticed was the amazing clarity of the water. It is just beautiful.
