…
..my ears are still ringing as i write this.. i went to a Sevendust concert last night and was able to squeeze out a few shots from the mosh pit.. this is Lajon Witherspoon(vocals) & John Connolly (guitars)..
..centurions drink bud light..
..that’s what those college kids were screaming out loud behind us.. they were looking to get the beads thrown by drew brees but none fell our way..
..gave this the b&w look with fat, chunky grain..
..one of the many people dressed up for mardi gras.. she was nice enough to pose for the camera.. 🙂
..well, today is mardi gras and it doesn’t get more mardi gras than this, Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints QB) in costume (as king bacchus) throwing beads to the rabid crowds.. pretty crappy shot, but what the heck, this is the only decent shot i got.. i’ll be posting some shots here in the following days, if i don’t then, just check it out on my flickr..
..lemme tell you, catching beads ain’t a walk in the park.. we saw a sobbing young girl holding a bloody hanky over her mouth, i guess she was hit by those flying beads.. i managed to catch a few beads too, not intentionally but just to shield the front element of my lens from being smashed by those beads, and boy were they heavy..
Bacchus was organized in 1968 by a group of New Orleanians who wanted to break with Carnival tradition by opening membership to out-of-town visitors and guests. They also wanted to present “the biggest and best parade and most imaginative, animated floats.” They have several signature floats, including King, Queen and Baby Kong and a dinosaur known as “Bacchasaurus.”Saints quarterback Drew Brees will reign as Bacchus.Did you know: This organization was one of the first to have celebrity monarchs. moma du nola
..fresh from the press.. nola’s moma (museum of modern art) = NOMA.. it’s a holiday today, so i’m just out and about roaming the gulf coast.. 🙂

..nothing much going on here, snow was here and gone just like that.. a long weekend, let’s see where i end up going again.. in the meantime, here’s 3 park avenue..

la nouba
..going over some stuff, saw this one that looked like a crab’s face so here it is..
La Nouba is a Cirque du Soleil show, which, like most Cirque du Soleil shows, is a circus-like performance featuring acrobats, gymnasts, and other skilled performers. Its title derives from the French phrase faire la nouba, meaning “to party” or “to live it up”. La Nouba is in permanent residence in a custom-built, freestanding theater at Downtown Disney’s West Side at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. One critic wrote, “La Nouba has many pivotal points that make the show what it is… You are guaranteed to find details of the show you will both dislike and adore.”
..i just can’t think of a title now.. good thing the saints won.. 🙂

..back to vegas..
..today’s cold, cloudy, dull and lifeless.. totally affecting my mood.. so here’s today’s post.. a building that reminds me of toblerone (i say that in a good way).. but seriously, it’s a beautiful piece of architecture.. so shiny and all..
Hearst Tower in New York City, New York is located at 300 West 57th Street, 959 8th Avenue, near Columbus Circle in Midtown Manhattan. It is the world headquarters of the Hearst Corporation, bringing together for the first time their numerous publications and communications companies under one roof, including among others Cosmopolitan, Esquire and the San Francisco Chronicle. uss independence
..took a snap of this ship last year while i was shooting this because i thought it looked pretty cool.. turns out, it was a US Navy battleship in the making.. read the wikipedia clip below..
..the reason why i post this now is because i just saw in the news that it’s going to be inaugurated tomorrow (it won’t be open to the public and it’s gonna rain pretty hard tomorrow so..)
USS Independence (LCS-2), the class prototype for the Independence-class littoral combat ship, will be the sixth ship of the United States Navy to be named for the concept of independence. It is the design competitor produced by the General Dynamics consortium, in competition with the Lockheed Martin-designed USS Freedom, the prototype for the Freedom-class littoral combat ship.
It is intended as a small assault transport with a variety of capabilities depending on the mission module installed. The ship is a trimaran design capable of over 40 knots (74 km/h; 46 mph), and was delivered to the US Navy at the end of 2009.
..that’s the sound these waves made while washing away the sand..
..on a different note, looks like it’s getting a bit warmer here down south.. 😀
..of the three times i’ve been here, this is the first where i had all the time to shoot and admire the scene.. my main goal was to shoot the rocky stuff, but it was high tide that time so this was what i got..
..taking a break from the vegas photos.. yeah, there’s more.. but in the meantime, here’s another one from the beaches..
2-in-1
..you know those “looking up the eiffel tower” photos you see in travel photos? yeah.. those ones? well, i guess this photo trumps them all because you even have the palais garnier below it.. lol!..

..in the Las Vegas CityCenter, there’s this mall called Crystals.. i guess it’s new, some shops are still under renovation.. it’s very angular and futuristic.. makes for a great photo subject.. a great place to practice composition..
..finally got time to process photos so i’ll post more on my flickr..
Taking a stroll through a park is one thing. Taking a stroll through a mall that feels like a park is another. (vegas.com)
