..while looking for something to post, i found this one.. subliminally because i had corn soup just a while ago?

..while aboard the natchez, as the tour guide was explaining about stuff going by the banks of the mississippi river, i just kept snapping away.. i can’t seem to remember what this is.. i like the message written on it though..

..the natchez, tooting it’s horn before docking.. it was a pretty loud toot too.. 🙂
..got a chance to ride this boat up and down the river, there was even a steam calliope that was playing before we boarded the boat.. ’twas pretty neat..

..the view from our room.. this is lower canal street on the lower left frame, the big flat building on the left is the audobon insectarium, next is the westin(?) at the end of the street is what i believe is the world trade center building.. all in all a great view.. 🙂

..i’m a big anne rice fan, that’s why when i read somewhere that she started out in new orleans and had a house here, i just had to take a snap of it.. so here it is 1239 first street, there was a remax sign in the gate though..
..you have to view this in mono, it’s pretty funky.. 😀
..back from new orleans, it was a great place to explore and would certainly try going back again.. did a lot of touristy stuff and stuffed food like crazy.. this here was shot while strolling down bourbon street at night.. i have no idea how it looks like at daytime, but at night, it sure was really wild.. my wife’s gaydar blew up that time because this labor day weekend was the time they celebrated Southern Decadence, so i guess if you’re a single straight male planning to go there on the labor day weekend, i highly suggest you refrain from doing so.. ;D
..here’s one shot i thought of posting for today but wasn’t really a clear capture, but was worth sharing anyways..

..as if this place couldn’t get any more eye catching..
..shenanigans! 😀 yep, similar to yesterday’s post, this was shot at an auto show and given the panning look via photoshop.. by the time you read this, i might be probably roaming around the streets of new orleans.. have a rockin’ weekend.. 🙂

..it’s the first time i’ve been up close with these kinds of ships so bear with me as i post more from the trip.. ;P
USS Alabama (BB-60), a South Dakota-class battleship, was the sixth completed ship named Alabama of the United States Navy, however she was only the third commissioned ship with that name. Alabama was commissioned in 1942 and served in World War II in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. She was decommissioned in 1947 and assigned to the reserve duty. She retired in 1962. In 1964, Alabama was taken to Mobile Bay and opened as a museum ship the following year. The ship was added to the National Historic Landmark registry in 1986.
..if you’re a fan of these ships (or just like to gawk at them), i suggest you swing by Hess site, he’s doing a series on USS Lexington.. we’re having a “gun show”.. 😀
..must feel great driving this huge ship around the ocean..

..despite the hot, humid conditions, the half marathon last sunday was a fun run.. the initial hydrating stations were a mess, i think i drank too much gatorade, i wore the wrong shoes (= blisters), and they ran out of medals (boo)..
..i also held back because i was waiting for the wifey’s text message from our predetermined photo op areas and hopefully get in some crazy poses, but due to crazy traffic, and people milling around, she just got some shots of me from the finish line..
..here’s a where’s waldo type of shot..

..just like food critics, there are also architecture critics.. catty, feisty critics.. here’s an excerpt from James Russell’s piece about the BoA tower..
Ungainly Matron
The 54-story result is among the most ungainly forms on the skyline, like a matron who swathes herself in thick layers of fabric in a vain attempt to slim her burgeoning silhouette. The tower climaxes with a spire as impressive as an auto antenna..(more)

..i did have a good seat when watching this event, too bad there was a big head blocking the view, so i just stood at the back of the crowd and snapped away.. i was lucky enough to get some eye contact from some of the dancers..
