..one of the many people dressed up for mardi gras.. she was nice enough to pose for the camera.. 🙂
..well, today is mardi gras and it doesn’t get more mardi gras than this, Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints QB) in costume (as king bacchus) throwing beads to the rabid crowds.. pretty crappy shot, but what the heck, this is the only decent shot i got.. i’ll be posting some shots here in the following days, if i don’t then, just check it out on my flickr..
..lemme tell you, catching beads ain’t a walk in the park.. we saw a sobbing young girl holding a bloody hanky over her mouth, i guess she was hit by those flying beads.. i managed to catch a few beads too, not intentionally but just to shield the front element of my lens from being smashed by those beads, and boy were they heavy..
Bacchus was organized in 1968 by a group of New Orleanians who wanted to break with Carnival tradition by opening membership to out-of-town visitors and guests. They also wanted to present “the biggest and best parade and most imaginative, animated floats.” They have several signature floats, including King, Queen and Baby Kong and a dinosaur known as “Bacchasaurus.”Saints quarterback Drew Brees will reign as Bacchus.Did you know: This organization was one of the first to have celebrity monarchs. ..fresh from the press.. nola’s moma (museum of modern art) = NOMA.. it’s a holiday today, so i’m just out and about roaming the gulf coast.. 🙂

La Nouba is a Cirque du Soleil show, which, like most Cirque du Soleil shows, is a circus-like performance featuring acrobats, gymnasts, and other skilled performers. Its title derives from the French phrase faire la nouba, meaning “to party” or “to live it up”. La Nouba is in permanent residence in a custom-built, freestanding theater at Downtown Disney’s West Side at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. One critic wrote, “La Nouba has many pivotal points that make the show what it is… You are guaranteed to find details of the show you will both dislike and adore.”

..is this a replica of the arc de triomphe? i dunno, i guess so.. people of paris, watcha tink?
..well from what i remember that night when i took this was that it took ages for me to set up and take the shot because of some euro tweens posing & taking pics with this background.. i don’t speak french but how ironic it would be if they were french.. 🙂
..back to vegas..
..today’s cold, cloudy, dull and lifeless.. totally affecting my mood.. so here’s today’s post.. a building that reminds me of toblerone (i say that in a good way).. but seriously, it’s a beautiful piece of architecture.. so shiny and all..

..during the holidays, we went for a short drive to visit santa monica.. i was looking forward to shooting the ferris wheel at night and pretty much got a bunch of shots that i’ll be posting here and on flickr later.. this was actually the last shot i took with a tripod, after which i spent the remaining time walking around until i got stopped by someone who told me that shooting with tripods isn’t allowed.. well, too late for that, eh? 🙂
..back to vegas..
..the Tudor Hotel was running short on surveillance cams, I sorta offered my services.. 😉
..took a snap of this ship last year while i was shooting this because i thought it looked pretty cool.. turns out, it was a US Navy battleship in the making.. read the wikipedia clip below..
..the reason why i post this now is because i just saw in the news that it’s going to be inaugurated tomorrow (it won’t be open to the public and it’s gonna rain pretty hard tomorrow so..)
USS Independence (LCS-2), the class prototype for the Independence-class littoral combat ship, will be the sixth ship of the United States Navy to be named for the concept of independence. It is the design competitor produced by the General Dynamics consortium, in competition with the Lockheed Martin-designed USS Freedom, the prototype for the Freedom-class littoral combat ship.
It is intended as a small assault transport with a variety of capabilities depending on the mission module installed. The ship is a trimaran design capable of over 40 knots (74 km/h; 46 mph), and was delivered to the US Navy at the end of 2009.
..you know those “looking up the eiffel tower” photos you see in travel photos? yeah.. those ones? well, i guess this photo trumps them all because you even have the palais garnier below it.. lol!..
..those two dark shadows at the end of this overpass are guys cleaning the glass at 3AM..
..i’m a little under the weather.. ugh..
..in the Las Vegas CityCenter, there’s this mall called Crystals.. i guess it’s new, some shops are still under renovation.. it’s very angular and futuristic.. makes for a great photo subject.. a great place to practice composition..
..finally got time to process photos so i’ll post more on my flickr..
Taking a stroll through a park is one thing. Taking a stroll through a mall that feels like a park is another. (vegas.com)

TIP 1 How to become a professional photographer
Buy a digital camera.TIP 2 Tricks of the trade
Have a look on the camera, somewhere, probably on the top or back or somewhere on the front or sides there will be a button or dial marked ‘A’, this does not stand for ‘Automatic’ as some amateurs think but ‘Awesome’. Leave it on this all the time.TIP 3 Photography courses
There is no need for even a basic photography course because once you buy a digital camera you will be a professional photographer like me. Not as good as me though.TIP 4 Lighting
You will need some light otherwise the photos will come out a bit too dark. Usually you can fix them in photoshop but some light to begin with is good.TIP 5 Subject Matter
Yes, it does. Dont take photos of girls leaving the high school from your car as the fine is $360.00 and a years probation.(source)
