Month: March 2009
guv’s alley
..well, back to bermuda.. here’s a pink church to brighten up the start of the work week..
bow bridge
..i’m taking a break from the bermuda photos, so i’m going back to nyc..
..this here’s the bow bridge in ‘the lake’ @ central park..
bay ridge shore
..for a landscape, i pretty much screwed up the settings for this one and wasn’t able to set the proper depth to attain the acceptable overall sharpness.. it still looked salvageable, so here it is.. distortion and all.. 😀
no name lane
joseph stockdale
..home of Joseph Stockdale who brought the first printing press to the colony in 1783 and founded the Bermuda Gazette..
doggie runway
nea’s cottage
..stayed close to home and walked around.. there was a lot of stuff to see..
..chinese fast food.. bermuda style.. a few blocks from where we stayed..
..thanks to all who passed by here the past few days, i’ll be back to visiting in a sec.. lemme just take a nap.. ;D
..this is the roof of the place where we stayed, i’m not sure if those black growth are molds though..
..looks so good from up here.. down there’s not so bad either.. today’s gonna be dreary.. tsk3..
chug chug goes the tugboat
..how’s that for a title! 😀 now if only the chrysler was a bit taller, this’ll look like those AT&T “bars” advertisement, but the signal’s going down instead of up.. hmm..
something’s aglow
..here’s a UFO USO surfacing from the east river..
*after reading mike’s comment, i changed UFO to USO because it makes perfect sense.. why hadn’t i thought of it.. maybe it’s because i’m off to bermuda again this weekend.. lol! ;D
light of all
..it seems i’ve been bitten by the tweakies again.. the sun on the light post was just too good to pass up so i tweaked away (or at least attempted to.. 😀 )
..this here’s the arlington street church..
Arlington Street Church is a Unitarian Universalist church located in Boston, Massachusetts. Founded in 1729 as the “Church of the Presbyterian Strangers”, it became independent in 1787, taking on a Congregational model. In 1803, it called William Ellery Channing as its minister who defined “Unitarian Christianity” and launched the Unitarian movement, making the Arlington Street Church one of the first to define itself as Unitarian. On May 17, 2004, the church was the site of the first state-sanctioned same-sex marriage in the United States. (more)
..and, if you were wondering about that blue cast.. yeah.. it’s deliberate..
..here’s a barren tree’s shadow in the park..
..here’s a couple walking down beacon street ( i guess.. 😀 )..
park street
..boston’s subway, the oldest subway in america..
..buddhist monks enjoying the view..
ei, bro.. this is soooo zen!
augmented reality
..this here’s the park beside the city hall in philly..
..i know, the image’s title is totally unrelated.. the title is for that video down below, something i picked up from chase jarvis dot com.. some kind of cool 3d/2d thingy to play around with.. hit it up and try it out here.. just don’t do it in the office.. 🙂
..taken last december on a wind buffeted subway platform in brooklyn..
..looks like nobody’s home? okay, i’ll give it a few more weeks.. 😀
..looks like an ashtray, no?
..another Enfuse experiment, a three-shot blend.. it still strips the exif but i was able to salvage it by adding the original layer under it.. took about 3-5 seconds to process 3 images, so it’s pretty fast.. no auto align feature yet, so had to do it in PS.. it does exhibit a bit of “halo-ing”..have to read up more about it..
..btw, this was taken somewhere in bermuda.. 🙂
..for those of you who are familiar with this place then no explanation necessary.. for those who aren’t (including me.. lol), here’s a wiki excerpt:
Wollman Skating Rink is a public ice rink in the southern part of Central Park, Manhattan, New York City. The rink was opened in 1949 with funds donated by Kate Wollman. Historically, the rink has been open for ice skating from October to April and in the summer seasons is transformed into a venue for other purposes.
The Rink has been used as the venue for several summer concerts. The first annual summer music festival at there was sponsored by Rheingold beer company and opened on July 1, 1966. The Rheingold Central Park Music Festival also took place during the summer of 1967. The first annual Schaefer Music Festival opened on June 27, 1968 and ran each summer through 1976. The first annual Dr. Pepper Music Festival opened on July 6, 1977 and ran annually through the summer of 1980 (the 15th, and last annual music festival held at the Wollman Rink).
SummertimeThe venue no longer hosts concerts, but it is still used for public ice skating in the winter and in the summer it houses the Victorian Gardens Amusement Park.
Wollman Rink has also been featured in several movies, including Love Story.
Wollman Rink is currently operated by the Trump organization, and is today known as the Trump Wollman Skating Rink. Donald Trump leased the rink from 1987 to 1991. From 1991 to 2001 George Makkos from The Makkos Organization of M&T Preztle, operated Wollman Rink. Since 2001, Wollman Rink has been operated by a joint venture between Trump Organization and Rink Management Services of Mechanicsville VA. Trump completely rebuilt the Rink.
..btw, i’ve recently heard of Enfuse and tried it out with this image.. it’s like HDR but just not quite HDR.. have a go at it if you’ve got time.. it’s pretty cool.. (it stripped my exif data though)
saw
..just a house taken on a walk down some coastline in newport.. it’s overlooking the beach.. i bet it’s pricey..
..this is what’s left of it..
